We’re sure you’ve heard us say, “With Nissan, there’s something for everyone.” And it’s true. Whether you are a busy family on-the-go, a college graduate making your first car purchase, or even a member of the military, Nissan has a model and/or program to help you find a car that suits your needs. One program you may or may not be aware of is Nissan Mobility Assist which aims to support the mobility needs of physically disabled customers by making every Nissan vehicle accessible. If you have mobility challenges or know someone who does, here’s what you need to know about Nissan Mobility Assist.
Nissan Mobility Assist was introduced back in July 2013 and announced in a press release you can access here.
“Nissan Mobility Assist allows us to further broaden the appeal of an already diverse product lineup and truly live up to our corporate motto of ‘innovation and excitement for everyone,'” said Fred Diaz, divisional vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing. “By helping defray the costs of medically necessary upfits, we’re increasing the mobility of our customers nationwide.”
Furthermore, through the Nissan Mobility Assist program, Nissan offers up to a $1,000 reimbursement to have qualifying adaptive equipment installed on new Nissan vehicles to accommodate a physically disabled driver or passenger.
The following types of equipment have been approved:
- hand controls
- wheelchair/scooter lift
- left foot accelerator
- turning automotive seating
Keep in mind, equipment must be installed by a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)-registered installer after the vehicle has been retailed and within six months of purchase or lease from an authorized Nissan dealer. The reimbursement process is comprised of three simple steps:
1. Purchase or lease a Nissan vehicle through a participating Nissan Dealer.
2. Purchase and install your mobility equipment through a NHTSA-certified installer.
3. Fill out and submit your online form at NissanMobilityAssist.com, and your cash back request is complete.
Once you have filed your claim, you can check the status of your claim online.
