2015 nissan murano

The all-new and totally redesigned 2015 Nissan Murano is now available at our dealership—what a way to break in the New Year! We previously wrote a post on the details of the new Murano when the industry buzz first broke. But we know it’s still the holidays and you want to be able to enjoy your down time, so here are some fast facts about the 2015 Nissan Murano and what makes it so appealing.

  1. This third-generation Murano takes its cues from the future, expressed in the form of the Nissan Resonance Concept vehicle.
  2. The 2015 Murano carries forward Nissan’s new design direction with features such as V-Motion front end, a unique “floating” roofline, LED boomerang-style headlights and taillights, and more efficient aerodynamics.
  3. Fuel economy is projected to increase by approximately 20% versus the current generation Murano, due to the approximate 145-pound overall weight reduction, enhanced aerodynamics and engine/transmission efficiencies.
  4. The instrument panel height is lower than previous Muranos. Centered between the outer wings is a large information and control center with an available 8.0-inch color display with multi-touch control. The number of audio and navigation switches has been reduced by 60% – from 25 to 10 – for a more user-friendly experience.
  5. The new Murano shares the look and feel of the Resonance with an upscale “social lounge” interior with premium materials, advanced and purposeful technology, and a low, wide center console that encourages conversation between front and rear passengers.
  6. Adding to the driver’s sense of connectedness with security is Nissan’s Advanced Drive-Assist™ Display, an enriched version of the popular instrument panel feature offered in both the Altima and the Pathfinder. For use in the new Murano, there are a number of new features, including a 7.0-inch high-resolution color display.
  7. Murano incorporates up to four cameras (front, rear, two side) and three radar sensors (one front, two side) to provide input to a range of available technologies, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), and Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC). When backing out of a parking space, the new Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system can help to warn you about vehicles you may not see approaching from either side.
  8. The new Murano offers an available class-exclusive Around View® Monitor (ARM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD).
  9. Nissan’s advanced Zero Gravity seats are standard for front and rear outboard occupants. The rear seats are a three-cushion design – a first for a Nissan vehicle. Climate-controlled seats (heating and cooling) are available in front, along with available Quick Comfort™ heated rear seats.
  10. The available Power Panoramic Moonroof has a 40 percent longer sliding length and 29 percent larger opening than the previous generation design. It is projected to be among the largest moonroofs in the segment.
  11. The new Murano’s cargo area has been reconfigured (versus the previous generation) to provide a projected best storage space in the segment (with seats up).
  12. The 2015 Murano is offered in four trims (S, SV, SL, and Platinum) with either front-wheel drive or intuitive all-wheel drive.
  13. Popular Science magazine chose the 2015 Nissan Murano for a “Best of What’s New” award.

Having been inside the new Murano and behind the wheel, we can absolutely vouch that this Murano is a huge step forward in luxury and design, while continuing to offer the technological and convenient features that today’s drivers both want and need.

Nissan Crossovers:
Three of the Most Cost-effective and Fuel-efficient Cars on the Market!

Crossover vehicles have really caught on with the public at large and families, in particular.  For families wishing for the room of the traditional minivan, but with the power of an SUV, a crossover vehicle is the best bet.  On howthingswork.com, Cherise LaPine writes that crossover vehicles have become the family go-to vehicles.  She cites five reasons why this has occurred:  fresh styling, improved efficiency, competitive pricing, more options and third-row seating.   We are delighted to fill you in on the three distinctly different crossover vehicles Nissan offers:  the Juke, the Rogue, and the Murano.

The Nissan Juke

Nissan Juke

While the Juke is the smallest of Nissan’s three crossover vehicles, it gives rise to the saying, “Big things come in small packages.”  First, its fuel economy blows away its competitors, including the 2013 Kia Sportage EX and the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport V6.  With highway mileage of 32 mpg and city mileage at 27 mpg, the Juke is an excellent choice for those wanting the benefits of a powerful vehicle with all the comfort and look of a luxury car.   The Juke’s Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which uses a belt and pulley system to transmit engine power to the wheels rather than shifting through gears, guarantees the Juke’s engine efficiency for the long run.

In addition to fuel economy, Nissan touts the Juke as “Built to Thrill.”  And it does!  With its powerful 188 hp engine with 177 lb/ft Torque, this baby really moves when you need it to.  Its lighter weight (up to 800 lbs lighter than its competition) ensures the fuel economy of the Juke, but the interior legroom is actually greater than the competitors.

Pricing on the 2013 Nissan Juke is lower than the average MSRPs of the Sportage and the Santa Fe by almost 20%.  Safety is confirmed with the seat-mounted drive side and passenger side airbags as well as 1st and 2nd row curtain airbags, and a vehicle immobilizer system.

Some Juke owner reviews:

  • “The Best AWD for the money!  The size of this car is great for retired folks.  The power from the turbo 4 is a real kick, the modes of drive is genius using the CVT transmission to boost or subdue the performance.  The Juke was great during our first big snow.  We love this car!”
  • “My Awesome Car!  I love my Juke, the mileage, performance and looks!  When I decide on another car it will definitely be a Juke!”
  • “AWD Sports Car.  I am loving it.  It has been everything I hoped it to be.  Overall fun to drive and sporty.”

The Nissan Rogue

Nissan Rogue

The Rogue is the middle offering in Nissan’s crossover line.  “The Crossover that’s the Perfect Fit,” as Nissan puts it, is priced and sized between the Juke and the Murano.   Due to its superb fuel economy (25 mpg combined), it was acknowledged by howthingswork.com as one of the 5 crossover vehicles with the best fuel economy.  A list that was admittedly difficult to compile due to the different connotations of the word crossover, How Things Work says, “While the word ‘Rogue’ might conjure up pirates and thieves…the Nissan Rogue crossover plays by the rules and gets great gas mileage in the process.”  The Nissan Rogue gets markedly better combined fuel economy than most of its competitors.

With a MSRP of over 5% below the average competitors’, the Rogue proves to be a good value as well.  Competitors include the Honda CR-V EX-L, the Hyundai Tucson Limited, and the Toyota RAV4 Limited.

With its CVT and lighter curb weight contributing to its efficiency and front seats that fold flat, the Rogue satisfies discerning drivers with competence and comfort!

Even with its lighter curb weight, the Rogue provides more legroom and headroom than its competition.

Some professional reviews about the Rogue:

  • “The 2012 Nissan Rogue is a comfortable crossover with an unusually nice interior.  It’s also unusually fun to drive.  Unless you require maximum cargo space and rear-seat functionality, it’s a strong contender.  Smooth ride, capable handling, high-quality cabin, comfortable front seats.” — Edmunds (2012)
  • “… I think your average crossover buyer will find more value in the more settled Rogue. ” — CNET
  • “… this compact Nissan gets points for sleek styling, high levels of interior functionality, and value pricing.” — Consumer Guide (2012)

Rogue owners proudly say:

  • “This will be a keeper.  My 2012 Rogue Special Edition is getting better mileage than my 08 Altima.”
  • “Reliable, fast, great control on the road and on gas.  The only con I have is that most people envy me for having one!  I have nothing but great things to say about this car.  The best car I have ever bought.”
  • “Best medium-sized SUV…period!  Quality throughout, great audio, gas mileage and reliability”
  •  “I love the Rogue!  Best car I have ever owned.  Great on gas and love the size of it.  Storage space is great!  I went from driving an 06 Highlander and this car is way better on gas and is overall a better car in my eyes!”

The Nissan Murano

Nissan Murano

Nissan says that with the Murano, “Refinement also comes in AWD.”  The Murano is the top offering of the Nissan crossover line and is comparable to the Honda Pilot EX-L, the Toyota Venza XLE, and the Toyota Highlander SE V6.

The Murano’s 260 hp engine is more powerful than its competitors.  However, pricing is much more reasonable on the Murano.  With a MSRP starting from $33,530, the Murano is a great value for what is considered a luxury automobile.  The 31.8 cubic feet of cargo space is much more spacious than that of Murano’s competitors and makes this car a perfect fit for families.

Professionals conclude:

  • “The 2012 Nissan Murano stands out among other midsize crossovers thanks to its unique styling, engaging driving experience and overall sophistication.”  — Edmunds
  • “One of the quicker 6-cylinder midsize SUVs, Murano has few peers for smooth throttle response around town and in hilly terrain. Credit the CVT, which seamlessly transfers power without the gear-selection dithers or downshift delays of some conventional automatic transmissions.  Murano is a likable SUV that offers secure handling, a comfortable interior, versatile cargo utility, and a strong, refined powertrain.” — Consumer Guide
    • “On the road, the … Nissan Murano’s torque-laden V6 engine made driving uphill seem nearly effortless, and the CVT transmission kept the vehicle at the correct RPM for the incline’s duration.  The Murano’s edgy styling, performance oriented suspension and Infiniti-like luxury interior place it in a league of its own.” — Kelley Blue Book

Murano owners say:

  • “Luv my new Murano!  Great handling and the power’s there when you need it.”
  • “Nice power, comfort, excellent ride!”
  • “This is my second Murano.  First was a 2009, best cars I’ve ever owned.”
