The 2014 Nissan Maxima – A Sporty & Powerful Flagship Sedan

2014 Nissan Maxima

For some time now, the 2014 Nissan Maxima has been recognized as Nissan’s flagship sedan. Along with the 2014 Nissan Altima, it is certainly one of Nissan’s most luxurious cars. What many people may not know is that because of its 3.5 liter V6 engine with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and four driver-selectable modes, this mid-size sedan has plenty of power and acceleration when proceeding from a complete stop. According to Nissan, “While Maxima boasts all the sophistication of a luxury sedan, the unrelenting power of its 3.5-L V6 engine delivers quick acceleration, and the lasting euphoria you get from being behind the wheel of a sports car. An advanced sport-tuned suspension, and four driver-selectable modes give you great open-road performance without compromising control, or ride comfort.” Yes, the 2014 Nissan Maxima continues to deliver quality design and power for the 2014 model year, as well as a few enhancements. Here’s what you need to know about all that the 2014 Nissan Maxima has to offer modern drivers looking for a comfortable and convenient, yet strong, driving experience.

Professional and Consumer Reviews

Now that the 2014 Nissan Maxima has been available for some time, it’s easy to find online reviews and critiques from both industry professionals and everyday drivers alike. A smart car shopper does his/her research, and we certainly know our Tischer customers don’t go into car shopping without having done their homework. To help you with that research process, here’s what some of the online reviews of the 2014 Nissan Maxima will reveal.

The professionals:

“Test drivers like Maxima’s powerful engine, upscale cabin and found the tech features to be user-friendly” – U.S. News & World Report

“The current Maxima chooses comfort and refined driving feel over the ability to toss the car around turns. That’s not a bad exchange, though, especially if you’re looking for a car with flowing, unique design, an upscale interior and a long list of features.” – The Car Connection

“…this midsize sedan remains appealing for its long list of luxury features and engaging driving dynamics.” – Edmunds

“Consumer reviews show an overall 8.8 out of 10 rating” – Kelley Blue Book

“A powerful V6 engine, impressive cornering and braking ability and a feature-laden interior place the Maxima in the same league as the Chrysler 300, Volkswagen CC and Hyundai Azera.” – Kelley Blue Book

Consumer reviews:

“Easy to operate. HAND FREE PHONE. Dual sun roof is great. Front driver seat…is nice also for comfort” (source)

“Excellent performance, especially in manual mode with paddle shifter use. Interior features are plush and feature easy to use navigation and blue tooth. Bose stereo system is excellent. Styling looks great with its bulging hips, shoulders and hood line, although the front grill could use a design refresh. Trunk is deep and split fold down rear seat is nice. Love the sport firm ride of the suspension.” (source)

“Very excellent car drives very well and great features. No major maintenance issues.” (source)

“I am 63 yrs old and this is the first time I have actually “liked” my car for so long…In my experience, this maintains the value thus the trade value remaining high. I love the car exactly what Nissan meant it to be loved for.” (source)

As you can see, the Nissan Maxima over time has only continued to gain the trust and respect from industry experts and drivers like you. Meet the 2013 Nissan Maxima
The 4-Door Sports Car®

2013 Nissan Maxima

Tischer Auto Group is proud to offer the 2013 Nissan Maxima 3.5S – The 4-Door Sports Car!®  Nissan has dubbed the Maxima this way due to its powerful 290hp engine and 261 lb-ft torque. Test drivers often say the Maxima is a very powerful family sedan that combines performance and luxury.

Reviewers loved last year’s model for its powerful engine, comfortable interior and attractive exterior design as compared to others in its class. With very few changes made to the new model – Pearl White color added to the 8-color lineup, Bose® audio package added and SV Value package added – the 2013 Maxima remains one of the top sedans in its class.

US News Ranking and Reviews says that the Maxima’s continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive makes it a competent performer that out-accelerates and out-handles many sedans at the same price point. Pricing on the 2013 Nissan Maxima is almost 8% below the average MSRPs of its two closest competitors, the 2012 Toyota Avalon and the 2013 BMW 328i.  Reviewers also say that the Maxima’s combination of power, bold exterior styling and near-luxury interior make it unique among midsize cars.

Reviewers say:

“With pricing in the mid-$30,000 range for a fairly loaded example, the Maxima gets you a lot of car – in some cases, more than you’d get from luxury sedans costing thousands more.” – Edmunds

“The engine emits a throaty, sporty note at higher rpm.  All models have modest wind noise and tire thrum.” – Consumer Guide

“Once pitched as a ‘4-Door Sports Car,’ the opulent Maxima still zooms harder and turns sharper than most cars in its sphere, especially the sleepy Toyota Avalon.” – Car and Driver

“Sporting nearly 300 horsepower, the Maxima can show its taillights to pricier, entry-level luxury cars while its well-developed chassis offers a nice balance between sporty handling and a nice ride.” – Edmunds

“Heaping praise upon Nissan’s wonderful V6 is like calling firefighters heroes – you just do it, and only the crazy will argue.” – Autoblog

“The interior’s nearly as good as the exterior.  First and foremost is that thick (we’re talking BMW-thick) leather-wrapped steering wheel that is mercifully (nearly) free of button clutter.  While all Maximas now ship with a CVT, the large, almost oversized aluminum flappy paddles behind the wheel feel great.” – Autoblog

“The Maxima’s cabin could probably get away with an Infiniti badge.” – Cars.com

Awards and Accolades

The 2012 Nissan Maxima received the Highest Side-Impact Safety Rating – 5 starts for side-impact crash safety. From 2009-2012, the Nissan Maxima earned the Residual Value Award for Best Fullsize Car from ALG. These awards recognize the vehicle in each industry segment that is predicted to retain the highest percentage of original price after a conventional three-year period. The 2012 Nissan Maxima was also named Best Resale Value in its class by Kelley Blue Book.

 What Owners Say

“Couldn’t get it out of my head after I took a long test drive. It was a fun car to drive – really fun! Moving through traffic was effortless and there’s more than enough power to move and handle the car so that you’re always in control. I sometimes park it where I can see it from my office window and find myself admiring its lines.”

“I took a long look at Avalon and Buick before buying a Nissan Maxima. I was influenced by the sportiness of the car compared to the others. Gas mileage is much better than the Volvo XC90 I traded in. I previously only bought Volvos.”

“Maxima is a much more solid and quiet, faster, comfy, and just a great car than others I’s owned and looked at.  Looked at similar cars in the class, but those dealers wouldn’t deal much on price.  With the Maxima, I rolled out with Tech package and premium for about $37K.  Reliable and great vehicle – I researched before I purchased.  Seems to have way more room in the back than others in its class.”
